YOU get an eyeglass clinic, and YOU get an eyeglass clinic, and...! Yep, mere days after I returned from hosting a MOST Ministries eyeglass team in Jamaica, I'd told Dana I could interpret for a day of HER MOST eyeglass team in the DR.
Turns out interpreters were easier to come by than anticipated, so she suggested I come around lunch to chat with the team over pica pollo and assess the situation.

Bety's & Macarena's (far right & 2nd from right) smiling faces greeted me at the registration table. Not long after, Liana (far left), wife of new seminary student Luis Enrique (Cuba) joined us. She's an optometrist! It canNOT be a coincidence that after months of visa paperwork, a seminary wife who
happens to be an optometrist arrives the week before an eyeglass clinic! Tirzah &
Vicar Gavin weren't far behind.

Getting up and heading to find Dana, someone screaming "Erin!!!" practically bowled me over. It was Marie (left), a perfect stranger who's been getting my newsletter and following my blog & Facebook page for years. What a beautiful picture of how God uses the body of Christ to encourage and support missionaries. Meeting such a faithful prayer warrior was one of many highlights from the day.

Another was watching Josh in action at the evangelism station. His audience eagerly jumped in when he'd start stumbling over a word.

Time to earn my keep. Dana was all set to tell me I could go home, but I wound up relieving Tirzah at one of the testing stations for a few hours to close out the day - and the clinic. The highlight reel continues: chatting with Paula & Linda - Josh's self-proclaimed mission team mamas (he'd worked with them them earlier in the week) - between waves of patients.

The dream team was reunited when Josh switched jobs and became a "pointed" for his favorite interpreter.

All in all, 573 people in two communities received the gift of sight. Due to demand from patients at the clinic's first stop, the Cienfuegos sector, a pastor/seminary student duo led a service of the Word there this past Sunday. Praise the Lord!
Until next time, blessings in Christ!
