New Office Around the Block
My commute to work is at least DOUBLE what it used to be.
Before you feel too sorry for me, I have to drive around the block now instead of walking catty corner across the street ;) The owner of our old regional office wanted to sell, so we (shoutout to Tirzah and Jamielynn) spent the summer transitioning to the home of a former DR missionary family that's now in Romania. Months of cleaning, purging, loading, hauling, arranging, rearranging, and decorating led to a final push last week. Let's take a tour!
Our indispensable secretary, Clarissa, greets visitors immediately to the left when you walk in the door. Her corner, which we cordoned off with curtains since it doesn't have a door so as to air condition it efficiently, also offers three flexible work stations.
To the right of the doorway, you'll find yourself in a cozy multi-use room lined with shelves of books, games, and craft supplies.
Beyond that is the kitchen (and off the kitchen, a utility room and small but serviceable classroom space for our in-house language institute).
Straight ahead is the worship space we'll use, at minimum, once a month for Divine Services on all-team meeting days. Note the wall display to the right featuring LAC missionary photos organized by country of service (thanks, Trinity, Davenport!).
The first door on the left down the hall is the bathroom. While there are multiple, most have been retrofitted into makeshift storage units.
Also to the left is a workroom with four more desks up for grabs. The only regional team members with dedicated offices are the Regional Business Manager (RBM)/Assistant RBM* (to the right of the workroom) and Regional Director Rev. Ted Krey (far righthand door at the end of the hall).
Between the business office and Ted's is the conference room. I have meetings here every Wednesday and Thursday, oftentimes joined on Zoom by colleagues in Belize, Panama, and Uruguay.
A conversation about "office hours," which we haven't really had since I've come on board, is afoot. I'm eager to build camaraderie with my coworkers and grow into our new digs as we work together to support 42 church plants in 13 countries.
Until next time, blessings in Christ!
