I'm officially in my last month of living abroad in the DR. Accordingly, it figures that my last trip, featuring my last team(s!), was only the beginning of a string of "lasts," and I'm positive there's more where these came from:

LAST beach trip? Dana asked me to walk her through the paces of taking a volunteer team + the 6 residents of the Good Shepherd Lutheran Homes group home to Playa Costambar, so I happily obliged. It was a short-ish beach day, but I wasn't mad. A drizzly morning (see above) gave way to a few hours of sunshine, but a steady breeze brought another freak shower right as we - finally! - sat down to lunch.

LAST missionary conference planning meeting with the entire committee.
LAST FORO (we busted out the deck of cards that lives in my glove box during a length lunch break!).

Actual LAST missionary conference planning meeting, with the addition of newbies
Ashley and
Makia, who'll be taking over my role hosting the MK Program Team.
Yesterday was my LAST day of field responsibilities. It felt a little like my birthday!? Multiple colleagues sent sweet, sentimental texts; others stopped by with flowers...and then cupcakes...which meant I was frantically running to the office for my LAST meeting, period:

...which turned out to be anticlimactic, since a majority of the invitees were traveling or otherwise taking the day off.
Jason, Ashley, and I chatted for a few and then signed off.

Turning off the desk lamp at the workspace where I spent Wednesday and Thursdays for the past couple years capped off 7 1/2 years of my dream job. From here, my work shifts to the business of an international move: selling my car, closing my bank account, holding a garage sale, packing. Leaving well also means final coffees, lunches, dinners, and girls' nights with dear colleagues and friends and giving myself plenty of grace as I step into a new season. I'm lounging around in a bathrobe as I write this (at 4:56 pm...) and have read over half of a book I started this morning...while savoring a long walk at my beloved botanical garden :)
Until next time, blessings in Christ!
